This blog is a place where these students can make text-to-text, text-to-self, and text-to-world connections. When they find modern-day texts that relate back to the core texts we’re studying in class, they can post their findings here. When they find aspects of their own personality that relate to the texts or that relate to the characters, they can post about it here. When they find real-world situations that relate back to the texts or characters, they can post their findings here. The core texts this semester — Shakespeare’s Othello, MLK, Jr.’s “Letter from Birmingham Jail,” and Zora Neale Hurston’s Their Eyes Were Watching God,  provide students with countless opportunities to relate the worlds they’re discovering in the texts to the worlds they occupy in their day-to-day lives.
